The Global Smaller Companies Trust Market Snapshot – November 2025
Shares of smaller companies lagged their larger-cap peers in October. The strongest performing sectors were technology, telecommunications and health care. The laggards were basic materials. financials and consumer staples. Economic data points in the UK, Europe and the emerging markets were generally ahead of expectations while those in Japan were below estimates. Data from the US was sparse because of the government shutdown.

Anja served on the Board since 2015 and as Chairman since 2020 and we thank her for her significant contribution and thoughtful leadership throughout her tenure and wish her well for the future. Smaller companies rose in August and outperformed mid caps and large caps. From a sector perspective, materials, telecommunications and
healthcare led whilst utilities, technology and industrials lagged. Macroeconomic data was mixed during the month, with data better than expected
in the US and the UK but below consensus forecasts in Europe, Japan and emerging markets. Concerns grew about the independence of the
Federal Reserve and after a dovish speech by Chairman Jerome Powell, the market looked forward to an interest-rate cut in September.
Government bond yields traded mostly in a range.
