Invest Europe examines the growing role of listed private equity as a gateway to private markets, offering investors of all sizes access to private equity and venture capital through publicly traded companies and funds. With more than 4 trillion Euros in assets under management globally, the sector combines the long-term return potential of private assets with the liquidity and regulatory safeguards of public markets.
Despite this, many listed private equity vehicles trade at persistent discounts to net asset value, often driven by doubts around valuation. Drawing on new data from its listed members, Invest Europe sets out why these concerns may be misplaced, presenting evidence that valuations are prudent, and that significant underlying value remains unrecognised by public market prices.
Listed private equity is an important and growing segment of the private equity market, and an alternative way for a broad range of investors of all sizes to invest in private equity managers or funds listed on stock exchanges around the world.
